Bola Tinubu, the new President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and Kashim Shettima, his Vice President President, both updated their profiles on Twitter shortly after being sworn in.
On the well-known microblogging platform, Tinubu, who was sworn in today, currently has 1.9 million followers. As at the time of this report, his bio reads, “President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
Similar to this, Kashim Shettima, the newly sworn-in vice president of Nigeria, modified his Twitter bio to say, “Vice-president, Federal Republic of Nigeria/former senator, Borno central district/former governor of Borno state.” Shettima has gathered over 200,000 followers to date.
Tinubu, a former senator and governor of Lagos State, and Shettima, his running mate, were both declared the winners of the February 2023 presidential election by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The candidate of the All Progressives Congress polled a total of 8,794,726 votes to defeat his closest rival of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, who polled a total of 6,984,520 votes in the election while Peter Obi of the Labour Party came third in the election with a total of 6,101,533 votes and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the NNPP came fourth with 1,496,687 votes.
