INEC conducts bye-election in Ondo, Plateau, Imo And Cross-Rivers

INEC conducts bye-election in Ondo state, Plateau state, Imo state and Cross-River state today February 26, 2022. 

In Ondo State, voters in Akure North/Akure South Federal Constituency are voting for new representatives, while in Plateau State, voters in Pankshin South State Constituency and Jos North/Bass Federal Constituency are voting for new representatives.

The election is also taking place in Cross River State’s Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency and Akpabuyo State Constituency.

In addition, the Ngor Okpala State Constituency in Imo State will elect a new representative.

Following the initial delay, voting began at the Jos post office polling unit by 10:40 am. Voters were reportedly using the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS)  to cast their ballots.

Voting began at 10:16 a.m. in Cross River State’s Akpabuyo State Constituency. Voters were reported seen casting their ballots at the Ikot Ndarake polling unit, Atimbo West in Akpabuyo. The Thomson End polling unit – Okpoma ward has also begun voting.  The BVAS (Bimodal Voter Accreditation System) is in use.

According to reports,  at 8:55 a.m, INEC officials were seen preparing to begin accreditation at Polling Unit 014, Ward 5 Imerienwe, located at Community School Upe, Imo, State. Some voters were also on the ground, awaiting the results of the election.

At 08:16am,  Election materials were distributed in some polling units for the Bassa/Jos North federal constituency bye-elections.

By 8:20 a.m, Voters from Unit 14, Ward 5 Akure South Local Government Area have begun to arrive at the various polling stations to check their names on the voter register.
