The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Akwa Ibom State says 76,534 eligible voters were registered during the first phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, which concluded on December 10, 2025.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Obo Effanga, disclosed this in Uyo through a statement issued on Saturday and signed by Bukola Ojeme, Head of the Voter Education and Publicity Department.
According to the statement, the REC said: “During the first phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise between August 25 and December 10, we in INEC Akwa Ibom registered 76,534 in the state.”
Effanga added that “From December 15-21, we shall display the preliminary list of registered voters to allow for claims and objections.”
He urged newly registered voters to use the display period to visit the 31 INEC local government area offices to verify their personal information and correct any errors. He noted that the exercise also allows members of the public to raise objections to names wrongly included on the register, especially those of foreigners or deceased persons.
The REC further announced that the second phase of the voter registration exercise will begin on January 5, 2026, stating: “The second phase of the registration will start on January 5, 2026.”
He also extended Christmas goodwill to the people of Akwa Ibom State.
