The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) unveiled its 2022-2026 strategic plan and 2023 electoral project plan on Thursday.
According to the commission, the document’s goals are to provide electoral officials with the resources they need to conduct free and fair elections.
It will also assist INEC in registering political parties and monitoring their operations, enhancing the commission’s ability to carry out its mandate.
The new document is based on the findings of a review of the 2017-2021 strategic plan, which is set to expire in December 2021.
According to INEC, the successes and challenges encountered during the implementation of the previous plan form a solid foundation for the new strategic plan.
Civil society organisations, members of the interagency committee on elections security, and resident and national electoral commissioners will be in attendance.
