Insecurity: Katsina to send out 3,000 security personnel
In order to improve security and combat crime in Kastina State, no less than 3,000 civilians will receive training.
The Mobile Police Unit of the Nigerian Police Force had already trained 500 people, who had been assigned to the state’s front-line local government regions.
There is a history of regular terrorist assaults in the frontline councils.
Ahmad Katsina, the special adviser on security issues for Governor Aminu Masari, confirmed the development on Tuesday.
Another group of 600 people, he claimed, would be trained and sent out “anytime from now.”
He claims that the arrangement is a component of the state’s community security network’s three-tier security network, which also includes traditional leaders and state security officials.
He continued by saying that his office was in charge of organizing the staff’s operations.
Kastina added, “Our target is to have 3,000 trained personnel who will assist security officials in the state. We shall have at least 88 of such personnel in each council.
“We have already trained 500 personnel at the Mobile Police Force Unit and we have deployed them. Anytime from now, we are training another batch of 600 who will also be deployed. In all, we shall have 3,000 personnel who will be deployed to all the 34 councils in the state. They will be coordinated through the office of the Security Adviser. It is part of the three-tier-community security arrangement aimed at curbing crimes especially terrorism on the state.”
