The Yobe Government has ordered the immediate shutdown of every boarding secondary school in the state as a precaution to protect students.

This was announced in a statement issued by Alhaji Mamman Mohammed, Gov. Mai Mala Buni’s Director-General of Press and Media Affairs, in Damaturu on Saturday.

He explained that the decision followed a security meeting convened by the governor and top security officials in the state.

Mohammed noted that the directive became necessary after assessing the recent breach of security recorded in schools across some states in the federation.

The aide added that Buni urged residents to offer prayers for leaders, security personnel, peace, and overall safety in both the state and the country.

Muhammed also quoted Dr Bukar Aji-Bukar, Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, who stated that the closure would be temporary until the situation improves.

He said principals of all affected schools have been instructed to ensure full compliance.
