Internal Revenue Director abducted in Rivers

Gunmen have abducted a director at the Rivers State Board of Internal Revenue, identified as Aribibia Fubara.

The incident occurred on Saturday at the Okrika Waterfront near Marine Base in Port Harcourt, the state capital. The kidnappers, about six in number, arrived at the scene in a speedboat and fired shots into the air to disperse bystanders before seizing their target in what appeared to be a carefully orchestrated abduction.

At the time of this report, it remains unclear whether the kidnappers have made contact with Fubara’s family.

Rivers State Police spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident, stating, “The command is aware of the situation, and the Commissioner of Police, Tunji Disu, has directed tactical units to ensure the victim’s safe release.” She added that a manhunt is underway to apprehend the perpetrators.
