Iran’s Khamenei honours commander for Israel attack

Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has awarded the commander of the Revolutionary Guards’ Aerospace Force, General Amirali Hajizadeh, for leading missile strikes against Israel.

According to Khamenei’s official website, the decoration, known as the Order of Fath (meaning “Conquest” in Farsi), was given to Hajizadeh in recognition of his role in the “Honest Promise” operation.

Hajizadeh, 62, has been in charge of the Guards’ aerospace division since its inception in 2009.

On Tuesday, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched approximately 200 missiles at Israel, in retaliation for an Israeli airstrike that killed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and IRGC General Abbas Nilforoushan in Beirut.

This marks Iran’s second direct attack on Israel in six months, following a missile and drone strike in April, which Tehran said was in response to an Israeli attack on Iran’s consulate in Damascus.

Israel has vowed to retaliate for the latest missile assault.
