Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to meet with US President Donald Trump at the White House next week.

According to Netanyahu’s office, the visit will occur on February 4, making him the first foreign leader invited to the White House during Trump’s second term.

A White House official confirmed plans for the meeting but stated that the exact date and time are yet to be finalized, as reported by CBS News.

Trump hinted at the meeting on Monday, telling reporters that Netanyahu would visit Washington “very soon,” without providing further details.

The meeting coincides with an initial six-week ceasefire in Gaza, brokered between Israel and Hamas to halt the ongoing conflict.

Trump has taken credit for facilitating the ceasefire and a hostage release agreement, attributing its success to his recent election victory, as stated on his Truth Social platform.

The discussions at the White House are expected to address Trump’s controversial suggestion that Egypt and Jordan should accept Palestinian refugees from Gaza, a proposal widely criticized by Hamas, the Palestinian Authority, Jordan, and Egypt.

The war in Gaza, which began after Hamas’s October 7, 2023, attack on Israel, has led to significant casualties.

Approximately 1,200 Israelis were killed in the attack, with 251 hostages taken to Gaza.

In response, Israel’s offensive has resulted in over 47,350 Palestinian deaths, according to Gaza’s health ministry.
