The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has paid a total of N1,570,671,200 to Computer-Based Test centres that took part in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination registration exercise.

The announcement was made in a bulletin issued by the Board and signed by its Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin.

According to JAMB, the payment represents the N700 registration fee collected from candidates on behalf of CBT centres during the UTME registration process.

The Board explained that it gathers the N700 registration fee together with the ePIN registration charge and then transfers the combined amount directly to accredited CBT centres every week.

“In line with this arrangement, the Board has remitted a total sum of₦1,570,671,200 to the CBT centres that participated in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration exercise,

“This initiative has significantly curtailed abuses and the exploitation of candidates through the imposition of unauthorized charges. It has also entrenched a cashless registration process at the centres, many of which are privately owned,” the board said.

Under the arrangement, candidates who purchase the UTME ePIN are not expected to make additional payments at CBT centres, as they can complete their registration at any accredited centre of their choice.

JAMB added that the system has helped reduce unauthorised charges while strengthening the adoption of a cashless registration process, especially in privately owned CBT centres.

To ensure proper compliance, the Board also restated that it introduced the “No View, No Pay” policy. Under this rule, payments are only made to CBT centres after confirmation that the candidates they registered are valid and appear in the Board’s registration system.

“The policy is designed to curb registration infractions and ensure transparency in the process,” the Board added.

Report stated that  the 2026 UTME registration ended on February 28, while the examination is scheduled to take place across the country from April 16 to April 25.

Meanwhile, registration for the Direct Entry programme began on March 2 and will continue until April 25, 2026.
