The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has said that, barring any sudden change in plans, it will conduct a mock Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (Mock-UTME) on Thursday, March 7.
JAMB, in a statement on Monday, indicated that 260,249 candidates who indicated interest at the point of registration would participate in the exercise.
JAMB, in 2017, introduced Mock-UTME to provide opportunity for interested candidates to get acquainted with CBT experience, conquer fear and anxiety, and have a little knowledge of the UTME ahead of the main examination.
The exercise also provide opportunity for the Board to try out innovations and features it intends to use in the main UTME, assess its readiness for the actual examination, as well as allow candidates have hands-on experience on the CBT environment particularly those who are not conversant with the use of computers, and those who might wish to acquaint themselves with the CBT mode of testing prior to the main examination.
JAMB has repeatedly informed candidates that the Mock-UTME score is not added to the total score of the candidate at the UTME.
“To this end, all candidates, who had registered for the 2024 optional mock-UTME are to print their notification slips which contain their centres, venue, time of the examination, among other details.
“On the day of the examination, candidates are enjoined to be at their centres one hour before the examination for biometric verification as the examination would be taken with the full complement of traditions that characterise the main examination.
“Candidates are urged to shun all acts of examination malpractice that could undermine the exercise as it would be conducted under strict supervision and CCTV coverage.
“Furthermore, candidates are advised against entering the examination hall with prohibited items such as wristwatches, calculators, flash drives, phones, among others,” JAMB warned.
