The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has announced that candidates who sat for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination on Thursday will receive their results before midnight.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Board’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, assured candidates that the results would be released without delay. He added that a formal announcement would be made once the process is concluded.

A total of 2,243,816 candidates registered for this year’s examination, reflecting a 10.5 per cent increase compared to the 2.03 million recorded in 2025.

“This is to inform all candidates who sat for the 2026 UTME on Thursday, 16th April 2026, that their results will be released today before midnight,” the statement read.

Figures show that Lagos State recorded the highest number of candidates with 381,814, followed by Ogun State (137,156), Oyo State (122,662), Kaduna State (103,498), and the Federal Capital Territory (102,961). Other notable figures include Rivers State and Kano State, while Borno State and Zamfara State recorded the lowest numbers.

Participation outside Nigeria remained low, with Côte d’Ivoire recording the highest number of candidates, followed by Equatorial Guinea, Burkina Faso, and the United Kingdom.

To enhance accessibility, JAMB increased the number of Computer-Based Test centres to about 1,000 nationwide. However, 23 centres across several states, including Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Delta, Edo, Plateau, and the FCT, were delisted due to technical issues observed during the mock examination.

The Board stated that further details on how to access the results would be communicated through its official platforms, urging candidates to rely on verified sources for updates.
