Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has announced the passing of his dear mother, Hajiya Maryam Namadi Umar, who died in the early hours of Wednesday.
The sad news was conveyed in a statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Hamisu Gumel.
Her death comes as a profound loss, coinciding with the governor’s official visit to China, where he is working to strengthen economic partnerships and attract investments to Jigawa State.
Governor Namadi’s absence during this personal tragedy has raised uncertainty about his ability to attend the burial, scheduled for today.
Despite being far from home, the governor expressed his deep sorrow and extended heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming messages of condolence from within the state and beyond.
“The burial rites will take place today at 4:30 pm in her hometown of Kafin Hausa, in accordance with Islamic traditions,” the statement read.
Governor Namadi and his family have requested prayers for the peaceful repose of Hajiya Maryam’s soul.
Dignitaries, relatives, and well-wishers are expected to gather for the burial, offering their support to the grieving family.
The governor’s spokesperson has called on all attendees to continue their prayers and offer comfort to the family during this challenging period.
The statement highlighted that the deceased was deeply respected as a pillar of strength and a source of inspiration to both her family and community.
“Her legacy of kindness, compassion, and unwavering dedication will be remembered by all who knew her.
