Umar Namadi, the governor of Jigawa State, has lost his eldest son, Abdulwahab Umar Namadi, in a deadly vehicle accident.
The tragedy happened just 24 hours after the governor lost his mother, Hajiya Maryam Namadi.
According to eyewitnesses, Abdulwahab was returning from Kafin Hausa to Dutse with his friends when the vehicle he was driving lost control and tumbled. While his buddies suffered varying degrees of injuries and are currently being treated at Dutse General Hospital, Abdulwahab was confirmed dead on the scene.
A close family member, speaking on the condition of anonymity, described the situation as a “double tragedy that has deeply shaken the family.”
“The governor is still grieving the loss of his mother, and now this. “It is a very difficult time for the family,” the insider stated.
Governor Namadi, who was present at the funeral in Kafin Hausa, conveyed his condolences while urging prayers and patience.
“We can’t doubt Allah’s will. During a brief remark following the funeral, the governor asked everyone to keep us in their prayers during this difficult time.
Residents of Dutse and Kafin Hausa have gathered at the governor’s mansion to express their condolences.
Abdulwahab’s family acquaintance, Alhaji Musa Ibrahim, characterised him as a “humble and responsible young man with a promising future.”
“He was well-liked by many people and always showed respect for seniors. “This is a huge loss not only for the family, but for the entire state,” Ibrahim said.
Meanwhile, hospital officials reported that Abdulwahab’s companions are responding to therapy and are in stable condition.
Malam Sagir Musa, Jigawa State’s Information Commissioner, issued a statement expressing the government’s sympathies.
“We mourn alongside His Excellency and his family. This is a sad time for all of us in Jigawa State. The statement read, “May Allah grant the deceased Aljannah Firdaus.”
The late Abdulwahab’s funeral prayers were held at the Kafin Hausa Central Mosque, with top government officials, traditional rulers, and community leaders in attendance.
