Jigawa Govt approves N2.6bn for 2026 Hajj exercise

The Jigawa State Executive Council has sanctioned N2,651,596,547.52 for the 2026 Hajj operations.

The Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports and Culture, Sagir Musa Ahmad, announced this while addressing reporters on Thursday.

“The Council approved N2,651,596,547.52 for 2026 Hajj operations following a presentation by the SSG,” he said.

The funds will cover logistics, welfare, medical services, administrative arrangements and other components to ensure a smooth and well-organized Hajj for Jigawa pilgrims.

Council also approved N1,303,545,686.00 for bursary allowances to 19,716 newly screened students (12,638 males and 7,088 females) across 77 tertiary institutions.

The commissioner explained that the bursary allowance is meant to support education, reduce financial pressure on families, and promote academic excellence.
