Access to the estate has been refused to journalists who wanted to examine the scene of the seven-story building fall on Banana Island, Lagos State.

Reporters from The PUNCH, Channels TV, TVC, Arise, Guardian, among other media outlets, were requested to wait outside the estate gate.

This was discloses by the majority of journalists that they had been waiting for more than two hours.

Reacting to the reason behind the action, the estate management said, “They don’t want hoodlums to gain access into the estate in order to forestall breakdown of law and order.”

Nonetheless, the management gave the journalists who were waiting a tent.

One of Nigeria’s priciest neighbourhoods, Banana Island is home to some of the richest citizens of the nation. No one can enter the estate without obtaining an access code from a resident.
