The Court of Appeal in Abuja halted the enforcement of its own verdict on Friday, which criticized the extradition of Kanu from Kenya to Nigeria and overturned the allegations against him for terrorism.
In a decision, Justice Haruna Tsanami upheld the Federal Government’s application and ruled that the judgment’s implementation should be suspended.
The Federal Government had asked that the judgment’s enforcement be halted while its Supreme Court appeal was being decided.
In the briefing judgement, Justice Tsanami ruled that the counter affidavit Kanu’s legal team submitted in opposition to the Federal Government’s application was false.
