The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has called off its two-week warning strike, giving the Federal Government a one-month grace period to meet its outstanding demands.
On October 12, the union began a “total and comprehensive” two-week strike after the expiration of a 14-day ultimatum issued to the government on September 28.
ASUU said the industrial action was prompted by the Federal Government’s failure to resolve issues related to staff welfare, infrastructure development, the implementation of the 2009 ASUU-FGN agreement, and the payment of outstanding salary arrears.
