A resounding victory in the March 18 governorship and state House of Assembly elections gave Borno State’s Governor Babagana Umara Zulum a second term.
Zulum received 545,543 of the 649,855 total votes cast, defeating Mohammed Ali Jajari of the PDP, who received 82,147 votes, thus winning on the APC platform.
Prof. Jude Tsammani Rabo, the state’s returning officer for the governorship and state assembly elections, announced the outcome and noted that Prof. Zulum had won the most votes and received one-fourth of the total votes cast in each of the state’s 27 local government areas.
He pronounced Zulum the victor of the governor’s race after stating that he had complied with all legal requirements.
In the state, which had 2,513,281 registered voters, of whom 650,533 were accredited, twelve political parties ran for office.
Moreover, the APC won all 28 seats in the House of Assembly.
