The Court of Appeal in Abuja has reaffirmed Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the Labour Party.
In a judgment delivered by Justice Hamma Barka, a three-member panel of the appellate court declared that its earlier decision of November 13, 2024, which recognized Abure as the party’s chairman, remains valid and has not been overturned by any court.
Justice Barka issued this declaration while delivering judgments in two separate appeals filed by Senator Esther Nenadi Usman and the caretaker committee, as well as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The appellate court emphasized that it did not address the Labour Party’s leadership dispute in its rulings, as such matters are not justiciable.
It further stated that any judgment rendered without proper jurisdiction, such as the Federal High Court’s October 8, 2024 decision by Justice Emeka Nwite, is null and void.
Relying on its November 13, 2024 judgment, the Court of Appeal concluded that Julius Abure remains the recognized National Chairman of the Labour Party.
