A Federal High Court in Lagos on Tuesday morning discharged and acquitted former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, of all charges in the long-running money laundering case filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The court upheld Fayose’s no-case submission, stating that the prosecution failed to establish a prima facie case that would require him to enter a defence.
Fayose had faced allegations of money laundering and fraud related to his time in office. However, after several years of legal proceedings, the court ruled that the EFCC’s evidence was not sufficient to sustain the charges.
