FG withdraws newly amended charges against Nnamdi Kanu
On Wednesday morning, the Federal Government withdrew the newly amended charge against the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.
Previously, Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja denied Kanu’s bail application on the grounds that his absence since 2017 must be determined before a bail application will be entertained.
The federal government decided to stick with its original charges of “criminal conspiracy, intimidation, and membership in an illegal organisation” against Kanu, despite the fact that justice Nyako, who stated she was unaware of a previously amende
d charge until she arrived at court in the morning, had thrown out the charge.
