A fire broke out in a number of the stores in the Docemo and Nanadi Azikwe areas of the well-known Lagos market, Eko Idumota.

According to reports from the incident’s video, three buildings—two-story buildings and one three-story building used to house clothing, purse and shoe stores—were damaged on Wednesday.

As soon as emergency personnel from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service arrived on the site, they started fighting the fire to put it out.

The Fire Service’s chief, Margaret Adeseye, affirmed that resources from fire stations in Ebute Elefun, Ilupeju, and Alausa had been sent in order to control the situation. She said that efforts to put out the fire are still in progress.

Investigations are still ongoing, and the cause of the fire is yet unknown. No casualties have been recorded as of yet.
