Residents of Ibadan, Oyo State capital, on Monday hit the street to protest the skyrocketing price of food and the state of the economy.
Reports state that demonstrators congregated in the Mokola area of the state, brandishing placards bearing messages like ‘End food price hikes and inflation,’ ‘The poor are suffering,’ and ‘Tinubu, remember your promises,’ among others.
They also vocalized their concerns through chants. Despite the peaceful nature of the rally, armed policemen were present at the protest site, as participants voiced their grievances against the economic challenges exacerbated by the removal of petrol subsidies.
