Trouble for Keyamo as Senator moves for suspension of his screening as minister

A Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District, Darlington Nwokocha, on Monday, moved a motion for the suspension of the ministerial screening of a ministerial nominee from Delta State, Festus Keyamo.

Enyinnaya Abaribe, a senator representing Abia-South Senatorial District, seconded Nwokocha’s proposal.

Following that, Senate President Godswill Akpabio put the proposal to a voice vote, but legislators were divided on the issue.

The red chamber immediately erupted into a rowdy session.

Nwokocha has accused Keyamo of insulting the 9th National Assembly and accusing it of corruption.

Keyamo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), was a former Minister of State for Labour and Productivity under the then administration of ex-President Muhammadu Buhari.
