The Senate has approved the appointment of Nyesom Wike, the former governor of Rivers State, for a ministerial position.

A video posted by a Twitter user, Imran Muhammad, shows Wike arriving at the National Assembly complex with his wife on Monday.

The former governor of Rivers State and a member of the Peoples Democratic Party were among the initial batch of ministerial nominees submitted by Tinubu to the Senate.

According to reports, the Senate is set to begin the screening process for the ministerial nominees put forward by President Bola Tinubu.

There are indications that the President will establish new ministries and complete the formation of his entire cabinet within two weeks.

After the names of the 28 nominees were announced on the Senate floor by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, the Senate spokesperson, Yemi Adaramodu (Ekiti South), mentioned that the Upper Chamber has halted all other activities to begin the screening process immediately.

Adaramodu said, “Screening will commence on Monday. We have suspended all the rules to accommodate the screening of the nominees.

“We were supposed to proceed on our vacation today (Thursday) but it has been suspended for this screening. We are starting the screening on Monday. We are not going to allocate time to nominees to talk.”
