President Bola Tinubu is presently engaged in private discussions with former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (retd.), at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Gowon reached the forecourt of the President’s office slightly after 2 pm, where he was personally welcomed by Tinubu.
The meeting on Wednesday marks the initial private interaction between the former Head of State and the President, occurring nine months into the latter’s term.
The agenda for the meeting remains uncertain, and it is unclear what topics both individuals will be addressing.
Gowon, who served as Nigeria’s Head of State from August 1966 to July 1975, presently holds a position in the Council of State.
