JUST IN: Train Crushes Trailer, ‘Keke NAPEP’ In Kano

The fate of a number of people in a tricycle, popularly called, Keke Napep and a trailer conveying bags of cement was uncertain on Sunday after the two vehicles were crushed by an oncoming train in Kano on Sunday morning.

It was gathered that the train conveying passengers crushed the trailer and commercial tricycle somewhere along Obasanjo Road in Kano metropolis, on Sunday morning.

Sources including persons who run businesses near the rail track, disclosed that they saw the trailer coming towards the rail line as the train was speeding.

It was learnt that attempts were made to warn the driver of the trailer but he didn’t notice the caution.

There have been varied reports of casualties from the incident with some sources saying that many of the victims were rushed unconscious to the Murtala Muhammed Hospital, Kano after the accident.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that some Officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC Ogun State Sector Command, saved the day when they rendered assistance to a woman in labour to be delivered of a baby on Friday.

Bisi Kazeem, FRSC Assistant Corps Marshal in a statement by the Corps Public Education Officer, said the assistance became imperative to save the pregnant woman who was in transit, and her baby.

He said the team which was on patrol at Mowe area of Ogun State, led by Deputy Route Commander Damilola Osiyemi of Mowe Unit Command, assisted the woman around 1430hours.

“The woman, Mrs. Ola of No 7, Aiyegbami street Sagamu boarded a vehicle Mitsubishi space wagon with Reg No: FKJ 904 HE from Sagamu.

“She was sighted in labour and she was later rushed to Broad Life Hospital, Olowotedo near NASFAT area, Mowe Ogun State, by the team where she later delivered a baby girl,” Kazeem said.
