The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) has ceased port operations nationwide, adhering to the strike directive issued by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC).

An MWUN representative informed Vanguard that aside from the ports in Lagos, operations at all other port facilities in Port Harcourt, Warri, Onne, Calabar, and elsewhere have been halted.
The closure is expected to persist until further instructions are received from the national leadership of organised labour.
