In a statement, Adamu said he has deployed additional investigations aids and forensic support to Edo State Police Command.

This, he said, will “complement and expedite actions in the ongoing investigations into the unfortunate incident”.

He said the police have launched concerted efforts to unravel the circumstances surrounding the brutal attack and death of Omozuwa in Benin.

The IGP, while condemning the attack, commiserated with the family, friends and colleagues of the deceased.

He called for calm and assured that the Force will surely bring the perpetrators of the callous act to book in the shortest possible time.

Omosuwa, a 100 level student of the University of Benin was first of all attacked inside a church on 28 May, where she had gone to read, by people who also raped her.

She died two days after in the hospital.

Meanwhile, the church has been burnt by irate members of the public.
