The Chief of Defence Staff, CDS, General Christopher Musa, on Saturday, assured that the accidental airstrike in Kaduna State will not happen again.

Musa insisted the incident that led to the death of some villagers in Tudun Diri area of the state was not deliberate.

According to reports, about 100 villagers in Tudun Biri, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, were killed by an airstrike on Sunday while celebrating Maulud.

Confirming the incident, the Nigerian Army said the airstrike was a mistake due to erroneous intelligence.

However, the CDS said the Nigerian Army would not abandon the victims of the incident.

Musa spoke while addressing journalists at the 4th Edition of the Chief of Defence Staff Armed Forces and Security Agencies Half Marathon Championship 2023 in Abuja.

According to Musa: “We pray for the repose of those who have died and those who were injured.

“We will make sure that they are provided for, and the Federal Government and everyone are putting hands on deck to ensure that we take care of the community, take care of those that have been injured, and also ensure that this doesn’t happen again.

“It was not deliberate. It was something that should not have been. We are going to move forward and we are using this competition to appreciate Nigerians for all their support and love for members of the armed forces and to assure them that we will continue to work very hard.”
