Kaduna Fire Service warns residents on fire dangers

The Federal Fire Service, Kaduna State Command, on Wednesday,  issued a warning to the residents of the state regarding potential fire dangers in the midst of the harmattan season.

The state fire commander, Sadiq Usman, who made this known conveyed the importance of protecting lives and property amidst the rising climate-related incidents in Nigeria. He emphasized that this call was crucial due to a combination of factors such as decreased temperatures, strong winds, and heightened use of heating sources during the season, which significantly elevated the risk of fires and related emergencies.

Usman highlighted that the Federal Fire Service was taking proactive measures by activating early warning systems to prevent fire disasters during the harmattan season. He stressed the significance of these early warning systems and prompt actions in order to prevent humanitarian crises, particularly in vulnerable and remote areas.

“It is necessary to maintain a state of readiness and enable swift responses during emergencies. The fire service is urging the state’s host communities to actively engage in risk management.”

”This includes sharing timely information with relevant stakeholders and collaborating with the fire service to raise public awareness and enhance risk mitigation.”

The Commander provided assurance to the public, stating that they are fully prepared to respond efficiently to fire incidents and other emergency situations.
