The Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KAD-SIECOM) has set the date for the local government election in the state for October 19, 2024.
The commission’s chairperson, Hajara Mohammed, made the announcement during a meeting with political parties and other stakeholders in Kaduna on Tuesday.
Mrs. Mohammed highlighted that the current council members, who were sworn in on November 1, 2021, will complete their three-year tenure on October 31, 2024.
She emphasised that KAD-SIECOM is responsible for organizing the elections for chairpersons, vice-chairpersons, and councillors in the state.
In accordance with section 25(1) of the KAD-SIECOM Law 2024, the public is informed that the local government council election will take place in Kaduna on Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The commission released the election timetable on Tuesday, July 16, 2024.
The chairperson also announced that the 2024 election guidelines have been issued along with the election timetable.
She reassured all concerned parties that the commission is prepared to conduct the election on the scheduled date.
