Kaduna Maulud accident death roll increase to 40

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has expressed deep shock and sorrow over the tragic death of 40 people, most of whom were children, in a motor accident along Saminaka Road in Lere Local Government Area last Sunday.

The children were en route to the Eid-el Maulud celebration when the J5 bus they were traveling in lost control and collided with an articulated vehicle due to speeding and overloading.

Kabiru Nadabo, the sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, had initially informed Channels Television that 25 people lost their lives as a result of complications from the accident, while 48 others sustained varying degrees of injuries and were rushed to hospitals in Kaduna, Jos, and Kano for urgent medical care.

Unfortunately, the death toll later rose to 40 as more victims succumbed to their injuries in the hospital.

In response to the tragedy, Governor Sani has directed the state’s Commissioner of Health to ensure that the surviving children receive proper medical attention.

In a statement, the governor expressed his profound grief over the incident and pledged to reach out to the families of the deceased to offer support.

Meanwhile, the victims have been laid to rest in accordance with Islamic burial rites in Lere Local Government.
