The Court of Appeal in Abuja has invalidated Musa Ilyasu Kwankwaso of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and reinstated Yusuf Umar Datti of the New Nigeria People’s Party in the Kura/Madobi/Garun Malam Federal Constituency Election.

A three-member panel, presided over by Justice Tunde Oyebamiji Awotoye, granted Yusuf Datti’s appeal and declared that the tribunal erred in considering the Appellant’s resignation date as the same as his party’s primary election date. They also ruled that Section 77 of the Electoral Act had been wrongly interpreted and emphasized that no court has the authority to adjudicate on matters related to party membership.
