Seventeen out of the nineteen individuals nominated for commissioner by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf have been approved by the Kano State House of Assembly.
The confirmation took place during the plenary session on Thursday, which was chaired by Speaker Isma’il Falgore.
After careful discussions, the House confirmed seventeen nominees, with the exception of Sheikh Tijjani Auwal and Hajiya Aisha Soji.
These two individuals were unable to attend the screening process as they were in Saudi Arabia for a religious pilgrimage, as stated by the House.
The confirmed nominees include Deputy Governor Aminu Abdulsalam, Umar Haruna Doguwa, Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, Ladidi Garko, Yusuf Kofar Mata, Nasiru Sule Garo, and Halilu Dantiye.
Others were Ali Haruna Makoda, Abbas Sani Abbas, Danjuma Mahmud, Adamu Aliyu Kibiya, Safiyanu Hamza, Haruna Isa Dederi, Bashir Ahmed, Musa Shanono, Taju Usman and Muhammad Digwal.
With the confirmation of the commissioner nominees by the State Assembly, the state government would assign portfolios and swear them in as members of the state executive council.
Meanwhile, the House adjourned its sitting to Monday, 17th July 2023, in a motion moved by the majority leader, Alhaji Lawan Hussaini, the member representing Dala Constituency.
