In an effort to transform Kano into a mega city and reduce traffic congestion, Governor Abba Yusuf has initiated the construction of a ₦15 billion three-layer interchange bridge at Kofar Dan’agundi.
Governor Yusuf, who visited the project site on Sunday accompanied by key members of his cabinet, reiterated his administration’s dedication to transforming the city center. He highlighted the project’s importance in improving traffic flow, a key component in elevating Kano to mega city status.
Awarded to CCG Nigeria Limited in December 2023, the project is set to be completed within eighteen months. It is part of a broader plan that includes another significant interchange bridge at Talidu roundabout, which is strategically designed to alleviate traffic congestion.
“We have created fordable alternative routes, and motorists are expected to comply with safety rules and allow the project operation to run smoothly,” the governor said.
A statement from the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature, indicated that infrastructure development, along with education, is a central focus of the current administration.
This emphasis reflects Governor Yusuf’s steadfast dedication to transforming Kano into a modern metropolis.
Following the foundation-laying ceremony, Gee Wang, the Project Manager at CGC Nigeria Limited, expressed confidence in adhering to the project’s timeline in response to questions.
“We are dedicated to completing the project within the stipulated time frame, ensuring its seamless integration into the city’s infrastructure,” Wang affirmed.
Similarly, Engr. Marwan Ahmad, the Commissioner of Works and Housing, echoed Wang’s sentiments, assuring the public of the project’s timely completion.
