Governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, has directed all commissioner-nominees to declare their assets in compliance with the code of conduct rules.
Yusuf had on Tuesday submitted a list comprising 19 names to the state assembly for screening.
Jibrin Falgore, the speaker of the house, confirmed the submission of the list during plenary.
Aminu Gwarzo, the state’s deputy governor, was included in the list of commissioner-nominees.
Also on the list is Baba Dantiye, former president of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE).
The Kano governor in a statement on Tuesday by Bature Tofa, his press secretary, said all the nominees are expected to declare their assets before they are screened by the state house of assembly.
He said no nominee would be sworn in as a member of his cabinet without filling the assets declaration form issued by the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).
“All other political appointees under this administration shall also comply with the directive accordingly,” NAN quoted Yusuf as saying.
The Kano governor said transparency and accountability remain principles of his administration as he strives to deliver good governance to the people.
