Kano Governor signs ₦719.7Billion budget for 2025

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has signed the 2025 Appropriation Bill into law, with a total of ₦719.7 billion allocated to infrastructure, social empowerment, and poverty alleviation.

The bill, signed on Tuesday at the Government House, allocates ₦262.7 billion (36%) for recurrent expenditure and ₦457.8 billion (64%) for capital projects, reflecting the administration’s focus on growth and development.

At the signing ceremony, Governor Yusuf described the budget as the “Budget of Hope, Human Capital and Economic Development.” He pledged to fully implement the budget and prioritise economic growth, education, healthcare, and poverty alleviation.

The budget also includes significant resources for social welfare and empowerment initiatives, with an emphasis on healthcare services and agricultural growth.

Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Jibrin Ismail Falgore, noted that the budget had increased by over ₦170 billion from the initial proposal, due to public input and the need for additional projects.

Deputy Governor Aminu Abdulsalam and senior state officials attended the signing ceremony, with spokesperson Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa emphasising that the budget will be key to driving Kano’s social and economic transformation in 2025.
