The Kano State Hisbah Board has apprehended two teenage boys, Umar Yahaya and Musa Al-Hassan, for allegedly intending to organise a birthday party exclusively for pimps during the upcoming Eid-el-Fitr celebration in Kano.
The Deputy Command General of the Board, Mujahideen Aminudeen, confirmed the arrests in a statement on Tuesday.
He said the teenagers, who claimed to be pimps, had reportedly invited others from across the country through social media to attend the planned “immoral birthday party” immediately after the Eid prayer.
“It is unfortunate that young people like Umar Yahaya (19) and Musa Al-Hassan (18) identify as Yan Daudu (pimps) and sought to bring others together for this event,” the statement read.
The planned celebration was to include dancing and other indecent acts, which Aminudeen noted would undermine the spiritual benefits of Ramadan.
“They were inviting people from all over, and in a show of disrespect, even mentioned Hisbah and its leadership in their invitations,” he added.
The teenagers have since expressed remorse, and the Board intends to provide them with proper guidance on religious teachings, good conduct, and responsibility rather than simply pursuing legal punishment.
“The goal is to teach them about prayer, character, and productive living so they can grow into responsible youths,” Aminudeen said.
He also revealed that the Board will monitor mosques during the last days of Ramadan to ensure night prayers are conducted appropriately and prevent misconduct during spiritual retreats.
