The Katsina State Independent Electoral Commission has reaffirmed its commitment to conducting free, fair, credible, and transparent Local Government Elections scheduled for February 15, 2025.

Speaking at the opening of a two-day orientation and training workshop for 21 newly recruited electoral officers in the state capital, the Commission’s Chairman, Alhaji Lawal Faskari, emphasized the importance of equipping participants with the knowledge and skills required for their roles before, during, and after the elections, as outlined in the approved election timetable.

Faskari highlighted the Commission’s strict adherence to the procedures, rules, and regulations governing Local Government Elections as stipulated by the Electoral Act of 2022 (as amended), the State Electoral Laws, and other enabling legislation.

He explained that the orientation program aims to prepare participants to effectively carry out their duties as Electoral Officers, Administrative Officers, and supervisors of ad-hoc staff recruited for the elections in their respective Local Government Areas.

Faskari urged the trainees to pay close attention, thoroughly understand the training, and strictly follow the legal guidelines.

He also expressed gratitude to the Commission’s members and staff for their support and cooperation in achieving the Commission’s objectives.

“This appreciation also goes to all stakeholders of the election who ensure the Commission succeed in the forthcoming Local Government Council Elections as they participated in all the activities, particularly the Political Parties, the Security Agencies and the Press who have been with us in all our activities from the date of announcement to date.
