Acting Governor of Katsina State, Faruk Jobe, has approved a review of the 24-hour movement restriction imposed on Dutsinma Local Government Area and the other 33 local government areas in the state.
The curfew on Dutsinma has been adjusted following a report indicating an improved security situation in the area. Previously, a 7:00 pm to 7:00 am curfew was in place.
During a meeting of the State Security Council on Monday evening, Jobe directed that the ban on unusual gatherings and all types of protests remain in effect throughout the state.
He commended the civil conduct of security agents in managing the hoodlums who disrupted the peaceful protest and engaged in criminal activities.
He also thanked parents, guardians, and community leaders for advising their children and youths against joining the miscreants.
Additionally, the State Security Council announced the arrest of several youths in connection with recent violence, looting, and vandalism of public and private property.
Following the Council’s meeting, Secretary to the Katsina State Government, Barrister Abdullahi Faskari, reported that some of those arrested have been charged with criminal conspiracy, causing public disturbance, vandalism, and theft.
In a statement signed on Tuesday by Director of Press Malam Abdullahi Yar’adua, Barrister Faskari reiterated the Security Council’s appeal for the public to remain calm and law-abiding, assuring that efforts are ongoing to ensure the safety of lives and property.
