The Katsina State Police Command stopped a bandit kidnapping attempt at Ruwan Lafiya village in Katsina State’s Kankara Local Government Area (LGA).

After a gunfight with the militants, the police rescued Hashim Yusuf, 65, and recovered 94 cows, 17 sheep, and two motorcycles.

Earlier, a distress call was received at the Kankara Divisional Police Headquarters regarding the movement of suspected bandits from Hayin Gada in the state’s Malumfashi LGA.

Responding officers confronted the armed bandits who were attempting to depart the area with their victim.

“In the process of scanning the scene, ninety-four (94) cows, seventeen (17) sheep, and two (2) motorcycles were recovered.

“Operatives are combing the nearby bushes for possible bodies of neutralised bandits as they flee the scene with bullet wounds,” he added.
