The Kebbi State Government has dismissed allegations by the opposition that some communities have been abandoned to bandits and terrorists, describing the claims as misleading and inaccurate.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ahmed Idris, said the state government remains committed to protecting lives and property across Kebbi.
He explained that security operations are highly sensitive, noting that not every strategy, intelligence-gathering effort or operational activity can be made public.
According to the statement, the absence of public announcements on security measures should not be interpreted as inaction, stressing that Governor Nasir Idris is actively coordinating the state’s response to insecurity in collaboration with security agencies and other critical stakeholders.
The government said its efforts are focused on restoring peace, enabling residents to carry out their lawful activities without fear and allowing farmers to return safely to their farmlands.
It also urged political actors to refrain from politicising security issues, emphasising that addressing insecurity requires cooperation, intelligence sharing, strategic planning and confidentiality.
The Kebbi State Government reaffirmed its commitment to supporting security agencies and using all constitutional means to achieve lasting peace, security, stability and sustainable development across the state.
