The Kebbi State Government has confirmed that 30 people lost their lives in recent bandit attacks on communities within the Zuru Emirate.
Chairmen of Zuru and Danko Wasagu Local Government Areas, Muhammad Gajere and Hussaini Bena, reported that 16 individuals were killed in Tadurga, while 14 others died in Kyebu and Yar-Kuka, both located in Waje District.
During a condolence visit to Tadurga on Friday, the chairmen informed the State Deputy Governor, Senator Umar Tafida, that many residents were also injured, with attackers looting livestock and other valuables.
Senator Tafida, who represented Governor Nasir Idris, conveyed the government’s heartfelt condolences to the people of Tadurga in Zuru LGA and Kyebu in Danko Wasagu LGA. He assured residents of the government’s commitment to improving security, including plans to secure all entry routes into the affected communities to forestall further attacks.
He also prayed for the repose of the souls of those who died and for divine strength for their grieving families.
The Chief of Dabai, Alhaji Suleman Dabai, appreciated the state government for its prompt intervention and credited recent improvements in security to Governor Idris’s leadership.
As part of the government’s support, Senator Tafida announced a ₦50 million donation to the affected communities—₦25 million each to Tadurga and Kyebu—describing it as a small effort to ease the burden on the bereaved families during this trying time.
