The Kebbi State Government has announced the successful rescue of the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Alhaji Samaila Muhammad-Bagudu, from bandits.
In a statement on Sunday, the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Yakubu Tafida, confirmed that the lawmaker regained his freedom following a coordinated operation by security agencies after spending several days in captivity.
“The government is relieved to confirm that Hon. Samaila is in good health and high spirits. He is also receiving all necessary support and care,” Tafida said in a statement.
Recall that Bagudo was kidnapped from his hometown in Bagudo Local Government Area on Friday, November 1, shortly after observing his evening (Isha’i) prayers and leaving the mosque for his residence.
Tafida commended the joint security forces for their efforts in securing Bagudo’s release and assured that the government would continue to work closely with security agencies to tackle banditry and other forms of insecurity across the state.
“The Kebbi Government will leave no stone unturned in its efforts to create a safe and secure environment for all citizens and residents of the state,” he said, urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements to authorities.
