Kebbi invests £79Billion in Capital Projects for 2024

The Kebbi State Government has revealed it spent £79 billion on capital projects in 2024 to drive the state’s rapid growth and transformation.

Abdullahi Umar-Muslim, Commissioner for Works and Transportation, disclosed this during a press briefing in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.

“These initiatives are designed to create a ripple effect across various sectors, including agriculture, healthcare, and education, accelerating the state’s development,” he stated.

He highlighted that Governor Nasir Idris’ administration, in just 18 months, had achieved significant infrastructural milestones and initiated numerous impactful projects.

Major Projects Accomplished

Key completed projects include:

  • State Ultra-Modern Secretariat Complex, Gwadangaji (£10 billion)
  • Dualisation of Birnin Kebbi-Ambursa Road (£5.6 billion)
  • Rehabilitation of Birnin Kebbi City Centre Roads (£12.9 billion)
  • Rehabilitation of Yauri Township Roads (£5 billion)
  • Birnin Kebbi Ultra-Modern Motor Park (£2.9 billion)

Additional Developments

Other projects include:

  • Dualisation of Argungu Old Bypass Road (£6.8 billion)
  • Renovation of Argungu General Hospital (£469.5 million)
  • Construction of a Fuel Depot at Sir Ahmadu Bello Airport (£300.6 million)
  • Renovation of the State Pilgrims Welfare Agency (£708.8 million)
  • Box Culvert and Retaining Wall on Birnin Kebbi-Makera Road (£395 million)
  • Bridge Repairs on Bunza-Dakingari Road (£296 million)
  • Rehabilitation and Furnishing of the Government House (£4.2 billion)

Focus on Community Wellbeing

Umar-Muslim further emphasised the administration’s commitment to improving citizens’ lives by constructing and renovating healthcare facilities, classrooms, and mosques across the state.

He commended Governor Idris for his visionary leadership and strategic approach, noting that only qualified and experienced contractors were engaged to ensure the success of these transformative projects.
