Kidnapped Adamawa cleric, Ochigbo, regains freedom

Reverend Mike Ochigbo, a well-known television pastor and motivational speaker, has regained his freedom.

According to reports, Ochigbo, the General Overseer of the Freedom Power Chapel, was taken from his Nyibango home at gunpoint on Wednesday morning.

According to an online news source (not NewsClick Nigeria), Ochigbo was released on Friday morning after purportedly paying the kidnappers N10 million in ransom.

According to SP Suleiman Nguroje, the spokesperson for the Adamawa State Police Command, operatives had been sent out to save Ochigbo.

In order to rescue the kidnapped Ochigbo and another pastor, John Moses, who was also abducted by gunmen, the state’s commissioner of police, CP Afolabi Babatola, according to him, has sent out command members drawn from the Special Rapid Response Team, Crack Squad, and other Tactical Squads to conduct a tactical and intelligence-driven 24/7 operation on Criminal Hideouts and Black Spots.
