The Bayelsa State Police Command has announced that famous kidnapper John Ewa, also known as John Lyon on social media, will be brought before the court today Wednesday 30th of November.
Asinim Butswat, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, released a statement on behalf of the Bayelsa police force informing the public that the Lyon and his accomplices will be charged in High Court 6 in Yenogoa.
On social media, Lyon is renowned for leading a colorful lifestyle.
When the 30-year-old social media sensation admitted to being involved in two kidnapping cases two months ago, Nigerians were shocked.
When questioned by the police, Lyon admitted to the crimes and claimed that his gang members had asked him for Danjuma Omeje’s address. A short time later, they kidnapped Danjuma and demanded N45 million in ransom.
He claimed that following the procedure, they paid him N1.5 million to pay his mother’s hospital fees while she was ill.
Lyon and his gang leader, Emmanuel Angase, were both taken into custody. Lyon is from the Akwagom-Eruan Community in the Boki LGA of Cross River State.
The statement by the police read, “The celebrity kidnapper John Ewa ‘aka’ John Lyon and others will be arraigned in High Court 6, Yenagoa, today 30 November 2022, by 0900 hours.”
