A student at Mustapha Isa Agwai Polytechnic, Taye Ajokeb, was kidnapped on Monday night and released after her parents paid a ransom of N300,000.

Miss Taye Ajoke, a second-year student at the Polytechnic, was released last night after a ransom of N300,000 was paid by her parents.

Recall that three other students were attacked by the kidnappers, including Freedom Luka, a first-year student of Public Administration; Ogwuche Janet, a second-year student of Business Administration and Management; and Danladi Nicholas, a prospective student at the Polytechnic.

The President of the Students Union Government of the Polytechnic, Ekom Peter Ayaka, on Thursday, confirmed the release of the abducted student in Lafia. He explained that Ajoke’s kidnappers had initially demanded a ransom of N50 million, but reduced it to N500,000 when they realized that her family and well-wishers could not afford it.

After further pleas from Ajoke’s parents, the kidnappers further reduced the ransom to N300,000, which the family paid to secure her release.

“We are grateful to God that Ajoke has been released by the bandits. She was released around 7 p.m. on Wednesday after a ransom of N300,000 was paid.

“The kidnappers first demanded N50 million but later reduced to N500,000 but later understood that their victim’s family and friends could not raise such an amount accepted to collect the N300,000 after several appeals.”
